The Name
Melissa from Auckland came up with the winning Haier mascot name "Flossy". Here's a quick Q&A with Melissa on how she came up with the name.
Q&A with Melissa
How did you come up with the winning name?
Coming up with the winning name was definitely a bit of a 'headscratch' as it had to be something unique, likeable and amusing. After seeing the Haier Pulse mascot perform at Te Rauparaha Arena I was convinced that she could be nothing other than a 'Flossy'. 'Flossy' not only rolls off the tongue but portrays the mascot's enthusiasm, energy and livelihood.
How did you get interested in Haier Pulse and Netball?
Like the majority of female athletes - netball was one of the sports I competed in as a young girl and our family in Wellington are extremely passionate about supporting their regional teams. The Haier Pulse always has been and always will be the team behind which our loyalty lays.
If you could say anything to the Haier Pulse and Flossy, what would you say to them?
Spirits high girls! The pendulum is swinging.
